Billing basics

Quotation vs estimate: choose the right PDF.

A quotation is usually a firmer proposed price. An estimate is usually an expected price that can change after inspection, scope review, or customer choices.

Use a quotation when

  • The scope is clear.
  • You want to present a firm proposed price.
  • The customer needs a formal quote before approving.

Use an estimate when

  • The final cost may change.
  • You need to inspect the job first.
  • Materials, labor, or quantity are still uncertain.

How BillForge helps

BillForge includes both a quotation generator and an estimate generator. After approval, you can move to the invoice generator.
